Welcome to our second Patron Choice episode! This week's topic is sponsored by the lovely Kim (don't tell anyone, but you're our favorite Patron)! Before we get to the nitty gritty, Rose takes us to Cafe Rouge, and butchers the French language (ouch). Then we dive head first into the history and haunting of the notorious Waverly Hills Sanatorium.

WARNING: Case images may be disturbing.

The land known as Waverly Hill got its name from a school teacher that loved Walter Scott's Waverley novels. This teacher called her one-room schoolhouse "The Waverly School," and the name stuck! The property, and eventually the Sanatorium, were named Waverly Hills.

Fresh air and positivity were the primary treatments for most tuberculosis patients at Waverly Hills Sanatorium. People were placed in "sunrooms" that had large, open windows, at any time of the year.

The Sanatorium had a supply tunnel connecting it to the train station, which was used for a much more macabre purpose. The bodies of the dead were removed from Waverly Hills through the supply tunnel, so that other patients would not see. Because of this, the tunnel was referred to by many as the "body chute."

When fresh air and heat lamp treatments failed, patients were subjected to all kinds of crude and painful procedures.
